NYFD-52 | NYPD-36 | SeaArk Utility Craft | Overview

This 52 foot all-aluminum fireboat exceeded contract specifications in two key areas - top-speed and pumping capacity - and can perform in the roughest of weather, which it quickly demonstrated when delivered to the New York City Fire Department during one of the city's fiercest Nor'easters. Designed in conjunction with Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding, the boat can top 28 knots fully loaded and has a pumping capacity of more than 6,000 gallons per minute.
The twin-screw, shallow-draft vessel, which measures 16 feet abeam and draws 4 feet, 3 inches, is powered by Detroit Diesel engines. The straight -forward design makes it easy to operate, even for just two firefighters. By separating the pumps from the main engines, the fireboat is easy to operate, maneuver and maintain its fire fighting capacity even with the loss of a main engine. Full-standing height in the engine room allows for quick access to all machinery.

The New York City Police Department needed tough, compact vessels designed to withstand the special requirements of New York Harbor and its surrounding waters and ordered three 36 footers from C. Raymond Hunt Associates. Built by Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding, the boats are heavy duty aluminum construction with the Hunt Deep-V hulls and have only a two and a half foot draft which allows access to the most inaccessible locations. Accommodations include a small galley and settee/berth arrangement in the foc's'le and seats for four people in the pilot house.
